lufkin texas wedding photographer | friday I'm in love...

Amazing. I sit and stare at these little details for hours and hours on end and from his eyelashes to his toes they never cease to amaze me.
I love you Levi.

Moments. The conception of a child. The last hug in an airport before he says good bye. A life changing accident. Your first kiss at the alter. The first time your child laughs or walks or talks. All these things happen in a quick moment and these experiences shape us into who we are. These moments are snapshots into our individuality. What if we could record these moments and put them into a photo album?
Throughout my life I have tried to close my eyes tightly and remember these moments exactly as they were in that very second of time. I have a catalogue of the most important moments in my life. Most of my life changing events have occurred because of impulse or a reaction to actions around me. What would your moments look like? What if we could look into the eyes of every living being on this planet and see the polaroids that shaped the homeless man, the business man, the mother, the teacher, the quiet child, the faithful dog, the gentle horse?
I think that my fascination with life's moments is why I have always loved photography so much. It is a catalogue of events. It is a story without words. It shows us who we were in that exact moment of our lives.
Last week I was driving along with Levi and I passed a field of horses that I pass almost everyday. In a moment I saw this beautiful white horse and he looked at me with such intensity that it seemed like he was calling out to me. I almost slammed on the breaks I felt such an urge to go back. Luckily, I had my camera with me and I was able to capture this moment for you.
It's Friday and I am in love with.... moments.

lufkin texas wedding photographer | where I come from

Maternity leave has been fabulous. I mean really, really great. It has been a dose of exactly what I needed. Some were worried that I might get a little bored; that this slower pace of life would not suit me. Well I have got to say that life has been anything but slow! Between diaper changes and taking little man on car rides to explore this sleepy little town with my camera, we have been very, very busy.

Last weekend Levi and I woke up early and I made my usual cup of green tea, which I tell myself is great for my metabolism so I choke it down each morning. Anyways, that morning was a little different from the dreary days of winter that we have been having. The light was pouring in and I could feel the warmth on my shoulders as I sat and sipped my tea. Any other person may have just enjoyed that moment of good weather. If you are a photographer you may know that good light means pick up your camera and go take some pictures baby! Levi and I loaded up and got to work. It is amazing how when I shoot through my lens I can see the world in a whole new perspective. I drive past the places below everyday and don't give them any second thought

This song is exactly how I feel about Huntington, Texas. So here is to you Alan Jackson. I am raising my glass to you sir for explaining so well where I have proudly set some roots down... the great state of Texas!
I said where I come from
It's cornbread and chicken
Where I come from a lotta front porch sittin'
Where I come from tryin' to make a livin'
And workin' hard to get to heaven
Where I come from

houston texas wedding photographer | i heart faces photo contest

This week's photo contest for i heart faces is hugs and kisses. I definitely think this falls under the realm of a great kiss!

east texas newborn photographer | strung out

Strung out. Okay I guess it's obvi that I put my little newborn love in a big old pile of strings,  but I am going to approach this post with a much more metaphorical train of thought. Strung out by definition from the ever- reliable Urban Dictionary refers to one who is physically weak or exahusted. Could we just redefine this term to: "Parents with a Newborn". I think that would be appropriate. For reals.

Levi has had me up faster than a chinese fire drill. It is amazing how at the absolute point of exhaustion a new parent could be the lightest of sleepers. Once upon a time I could sleep through a hurricane and my house shaking down. Now I wake at the slightest coo from our little wiggle worm. Oh how life changes.

So now most days I prefer to just hang out with little man in my jammies with hair disheveled and make-up gone ary but Levi, oh Levi he is clean and looking more dapper than ever. Once when straightened hair and prim and proper make-up was at the top of my to-do list, I find myself looking more forward to bath time in the whale tub. I guess you could say that I have changed just a little. I mean don't get me wrong, I still have time to whip out my camera and upload pics of him faster than a ninja, but I just do it after I watch for those gummy smiles that he gives me. NOTHING will change you more than having a kid. Nothing. But it is all worth it and I wouldn't change a little hair on his head.

Here is my little guy, looking anything but "strung out"
(you so do not want to see a picture of my strung out bootie).

lufkin, texas wedding photographer | friday I'm in love...

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things

Cream colored ponies and crisp apple streudels
Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings
These are a few of my favorite things

Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
Silver white winters that melt into springs
These are a few of my favorite things

When the dog bites
When the bee stings
When I'm feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don't feel so bad

Julie Andrews, I totally adore you. I think that Levi loves this song just a little too. So I may or I may not break out singing this during my next photoshoot, but I can promise that you will see me with a few of these things. It's Friday and I'm in love...

Oh thumbprint charms just rock my world. Love, love, love. Please wear this to our next photo shoot so that I can take some pics of you rocking this little cutie

More Wine, less whine. Need I say more? I NEED this for my kitchen, asap.
Buttoned up tights? FUN! Seniors, you should think about rocking some crazy things to make your pics a little more fun.

The t-shirt... nerd! Love it!

Okay, I could paint my walls, tile my bathroom and graffiti my car in chevron stripes. I just love this little bag.

Heart sweater? Valentine's next year... for myself.

"Slow down baby, your going to fast"... if anyone can tell me who sings this bit of lyric, I'll love ya foreva.

This would look GORGEOUS in your engagement pics... or on my porch.

I kinda sorta love baby caterpillars. Especially babies dressed as caterpillars.

lufkin texas lifestyle photographer | valentines for your man

So I thought that I would go all Betty Crocker this Valentine's day and I spent an ENTIRE day baking a lil goodie basket for Caleb. Okay, it really shouldn't have taken me a whole entire day but... I am a bit of a beginner in the kitchen and still trying to find my way around.

Just like finding the perfect light on a photo shoot, I found the perfect recipes and I started baking away. Too bad there isn't a version of photoshop for the taste buds because I could have really used a virtual fix up a few times. Needless to say I whipped up a few creations below! A home made gift is the way to go.

I made this card with a little photoshop and I found all the fonts on dafont.com
Crazy domestic is one of my favorite blogs for good recipes and what not!
Yum, Red Velvet Whoopie pies! YEAH!
These are DELISH chocolate covered cake balls!
Happy Valentines Day!!!

pea in a pod | east texas newborn photographer

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday. Each day escapes me faster than the last. When I had 3 jobs and was working day and night, trying to ensure my future with definite success, I found myself watching the clock all the time. I'm not sure if I was watching the clock out of boredom with all of my monotonous obligations in life or if I was watching the clock, hoping that one day I might receive all that I was working towards. Well it is here now, everything that I have ever wanted. I am a wife. I am a mother. I am a business owner, pursuing my passion. Now that I have all I ever wanted, I just want time to slow down. I no longer look for the fast-foward button on my life. I am no longer waiting for just a couple more months to pass so that I can get to my next plan. I am here, we are here. My family is here.

So maybe that is why they say that time flies and that they grow up quick. Already it seems that the days escape me. I never thought that being a stay at home mom (for the time being) could be so busy! Everything I do, and everything that I want to do is with little man. We are just two peas in a pod. So here's to my little pea pod.
