The smell of a well seasoned meal is like no other. Nothing is better in my opinion than a big juicy steak. This has lead me to realize that I am good at two things. Eating and taking photos. Not so good at doing both at the same time. Photographing good food is especially hard when you are hungry, so here are a couple tips. First off don't ever go to a food shoot when you are hungry! You'll just want to eat up all the goodies. Secondly, know who you are shooting for. Not every client wants a shot to go in Betty Crocker magazine, fully lit from both sides without shadows. My client, Hard Rock Cafe actually wanted a little food that could rock out with their sultry personality. They wanted movement and a bit of rock and roll in their dishes to show. How to do this with food. Well there are some tricks but here is what I did. So work with someone who knows the platings, (like the chef) and don't eat the onion strings before you are done shooting!
